For context, I have acne-prone and slightly dry skin and live in a hot and humid area. My routine includes Kikumasamune Lotion, COSRX Snail Mucin, Torriden Dive-In Skin Booster, tretinoin (2x/week), Kikumasamune Emulsion and Skinfood Shea Cream (on tret nights).
I came across the Torriden Dive-In Skin Booster on Tina Tanaka Harris’s YouTube channel, and after a few weeks of use, I can confidently say it’s earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
What makes this product stand out is its texture since it’s not quite a toner, not quite a serum. It starts as a gel but melts into a watery essence once applied, gliding over the skin effortlessly. It feels featherlight yet deeply hydrating, leaving my skin soft, soothed, and with a subtle glow. A single dollop covers my whole face.
Also, I’ve used other popular hyaluronic acid toners (like Isntree’s), but Torriden’s formula feels more innovative. It doesn't have that heavy, viscous texture many HA toners do, and more importantly as it doesn’t sting, even on tretinoin nights. That alone makes it a winner in my book.
Ingredient-wise, it's fragrance-free and thoughtfully formulated with multiple forms of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, ceramides, and soothing extracts like chamomile and centella. It hydrates without heaviness and never feels sticky or suffocating.
If I had to nitpick, the packaging is my only real gripe. Because of its gel-like consistency, you have to squeeze the bottle to dispense product, and it doesn't flow out easily. A pump would make a huge difference here in terms of usability.
Pros
Unique gel-to-liquid texture
Very hydrating without heaviness
Absorbs quickly and layers well
Fragrance-free
Tretinoin-friendly, no stinging or irritation
Cons
Bottle can be tricky to dispense from, as would benefit from a pump
Would I repurchase?
Absolutely. It’s a quiet standout in my routine, unfussy, effective, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
Let me know if you’d like a side-by-side with other hydrating toners like Isntree or Hada Labo!
