Hope you liked my other parts, and if it's your first time to see this, don't miss out the others! Come see my last part.
Since the first year I truly dove headfirst into skincare, I've tried and tested a number of skincare products. Of them, there were products repurchased, and politely passed on a fair share of products. Here’s a roundup of some of the treatment-style products that stood out for better or worse, along with some notes on what I’m hoping to explore in the future.
Skin Type : DRY. I was on Accutane a few years ago, so lingering dryness is a constant. I still get the occasional breakout, and right now my main focus is fading hyperpigmentation. My skin’s pretty resilient so most products don’t irritate or break me out easily.
TREATMENT-STYLE PRODUCTS
The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres
Rating : 5/5 | Would Repurchase
I started with their Ascorbyl Glucoside serum and saw zero results, so I upgraded to this and it was a game changer. Yes, it tingles at first, but your skin gets used to it. It helped fade my acne scars a lot and didn’t dry me out, which was a nice surprise. It doesn’t spread super well, so I’d either use it on damp skin or mix it into moisturizer.
The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder
Rating : 5/5 | Would Not Repurchase
This felt like the natural next step from the suspension. I’m currently using it and getting even better results, probably because I can control the strength. I usually mix half a scoop into my moisturizer. It’s more customizable and less irritating than I expected. That said, I’m lazy so I still prefer a premixed formula.
The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
Rating : 1/5 | Would Not Repurchase
This did next to nothing for me. My skin maybe looked a bit brighter? But barely. Honestly, there are much more effective Vitamin C products out there, often for less.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Rating : 6/5 | Would Repurchase
My ride-or-die. I’m on my fourth bottle and have gotten a few friends hooked too. It’s amazing for keeping breakouts at bay, reducing oiliness, and calming active spots. If I skip it for a week, I definitely notice more blemishes. It’s also pretty gentle and doesn’t dry me out. Pilling can be an issue if I rush my routine or layer it poorly, but otherwise it plays well with most products. That said, I know it doesn’t work for everyone as some people break out from it. As always, YMMV.
The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane

Unfortunately, this one broke me out. I kept using it, thinking it was just purging, but it never stopped. Texture-wise, it’s very oily though not drying. Still, I ended up returning it. Disappointing.
Next time I'd bring my experience of acids so stay tuned!
