My Skincare Diary - The Best and Worst, part 7

Hi girls! I have posted a bunch of lists so far and was really heartened by how helpful others found it, so I thought I’d share it here too. However this time I’ll keep the reviews short and sweet, but feel free to ask if you want me to elaborate on anything!

* Check out the last part!

About My Skin

I’m with combination, acne-prone, and sensitive skin. My skin does not get along with fragrance, citrus oils, or floral essential oils, so I’ve become a bit of an ingredients nerd by necessity. I still have plenty to learn, but hopefully this list helps others with similarly reactive skin or anyone looking to simplify their routine based on honest experiences.

 1. The Outset Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer – 7/10

Pros : The ingredients list is impressively clean, which is great if you’re trying to minimize potential irritants. The texture is lightweight and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy film, which makes it ideal for layering under sunscreen or makeup.

Cons : Unfortunately, it just wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin. I have combination skin that leans dry in certain areas, and I found myself needing to layer another product on top to really feel comfortable.

Bottom Line : This is a nice, basic moisturizer that could work really well for someone with normal to oily or very sensitive skin, especially if you want a simple, minimalist option. I just personally need a bit more richness in my routine.

2. Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy – 10/10

Pros : This is truly a multitasking powerhouse. It seals in moisture beautifully, helps heal cracked or irritated skin, and works amazingly well as a lip balm, cuticle treatment, or overnight slugging product. I use it all the time, especially in colder months, and it always delivers.

Cons : Okay, it’s not the cutest product to have sitting on your shelf. The packaging is very utilitarian, and it’s definitely not something you'd associate with a luxury feel. But honestly, who cares when it works this well?

Bottom Line : A holy grail for dry, compromised, or sensitive skin. I’ve tried plenty of occlusives, but I always come back to Aquaphor. It just does everything I need and more definitely team Aquaphor over Vaseline for life.

3. Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream – 10/10

Pros : This cream is a dream for anyone dealing with compromised skin. It’s rich, nourishing, and packed with skin-loving ingredients like lipids and peptides that help support your barrier and deeply moisturize. The texture is that perfect in-between of a cream and a gel, rich but not too heavy, and it sinks in beautifully.

Cons : Honestly, none for me. It doesn’t clog my pores, doesn’t pill under makeup, and hasn’t triggered any irritation.

Bottom Line : If you have dry, sensitive, or barrier-damaged skin, this is one of the best moisturizers you can get. Even though I have acne-prone skin, I prefer this over their gel version as it just gives my skin that extra cushion of comfort without causing breakouts. A staple in my routine.

Hope this helps my fellow sensitive skin friends navigate the skincare jungle and I'm always happy to share more if it's helpful! Stay tuned for the next chapter:)
