What's in My Shelf, Day 6

What's up grils! I wanted to share a roundup of all the skincare I’ve been using the past couple of months. I picked these up at the end of March so it’s been just over two months of consistent testing. Since I love writing quick reviews, I'm gonna show one item every day.

About Me

Skin type : Combo leaning dry

Skin concerns : Sensitivity, acne-prone, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and large pores

Climate : Mildly humid spring weather, nothing too extreme

Quick note : All of these products are fragrance and essential oil free. If I mention a scent, I’m referring to the natural scent that sometimes comes with unscented formulas.

So, Today I'm gonna talk about B-LAB Matcha Hydrating Clear Ampoule.

Rating : 3/5  Would Not Repurchase

This ampoule was... fine. It’s a basic hydrating formula that I didn’t mind using, but it didn’t really wow me either. Actually, it didn’t even stand up very well, literally. The packaging, while cute at first glance, has a tiny cap that makes the bottle tip over constantly. Kind of annoying when you’re trying to keep your vanity tidy.

As I got toward the end, I noticed it was harder to get the product out. That’s partly due to the packaging design, but also because this is hands-down the thickest ampoule I’ve ever used. Honestly, it’s thicker than most serums, almost like a jelly. That said, it does spread nicely and absorbs without feeling sticky, and it definitely gives a decent boost of hydration.

Still, between the awkward packaging and the just-okay performance, it’s not something I feel excited to keep in my routine. If they revamped the bottle, I might give it another shot as it does have some great ingredients, but for now, I’m just glad to be almost done with it.

Here is my last day-shelf

Interesting! I actually like thicker ampoules, especially when layering during colder months. Do you think it would work better in a winter routine or is it just not that deep hydration-wise?

I'd say this is more like for transitional seasons. Not enough hydrating for winter and someone with dry skin.

Oof yes!! I had the same issue with the bottle tipping over. It looks cute on IG but in real life it’s kind of a mess 😭

I honestly wish brands would test their packaging with actual people’s shelves lol.

Thanks for the honest take! I’ve been debating between this and the Torriden Dive-In serum as a basic hydration step. Sounds like this one isn’t really worth the coin.

Uh oh. I do not recommend torriden one either... it was just boring and too lightweight to keep my skin hydrated.

@Influencer Also layering with other serums is needed for it, which I found bothersome.

Wait this has matcha and no essential oils? That’s rare. I was considering this for my calming routine—do you think it layered well under sunscreen? I usually avoid jellier textures in the morning but I love B-LAB’s cleansing oil so I’ve been curious about their skincare line

Only under sunscreens which have light texture. Once I had this under a thick sunscreen? My skin felt heavy and I had to get home back during the day to wash it off.
