Is Beauty of Joseon's Revive Eye Serum with Ginseng & Retinal Worth Trying?

Product Info

• Volume : 1 oz

• Made in : South Korea

• Vegan : Yes

• Cruelty-Free : Yes

• Malassezia-Safe : No

• EU-Allergen Safe : Yes

• Shelf life after opening : 12 months

What Is It?

A nourishing eye cream formulated with 10% ginseng root extract and 0.02% retinal to help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boost elasticity, and moisturize the delicate eye area.

• Claims to :

- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles

- Improve skin elasticity

- Hydrate and soothe

• Supposedly suitable for : All skin types, though dry, normal, and dry-combination skin types may enjoy the emollient texture most. Sensitive skin types may also tolerate it well.

Packaging

Comes in a hygienic plastic tube with a pump mechanism, great for travel and easy to control dispensing. It also avoids spillage and waste.

Directions

Pump an appropriate amount onto your finger and gently tap around the eye area to aid absorption. This can also be used on smile lines or even the whole face, similar to the AHC eye creams.

My Use + Application

I apply this in my PM routine only, as it feels too rich for daytime use on my oily-combination skin. I use about half a pump, which is more than enough for both eyes with some left over for my nasolabial folds.

Key Ingredients

• 2% Retinal Liposome : Retinal is a vitamin A derivative that requires only one conversion step to become retinoic acid (the form the skin uses), making it more efficient than retinol. The liposomal form enhances stability, absorption, and reduces irritation.

• 10% Ginseng Root Extract : An emollient rich in antioxidants to support skin health and barrier function.

• Niacinamide : Brightening, sebum-regulating

• Ceramide NP, Cholesterol, Macadamia Oil : Strengthen and nourish the skin barrier

• Syn-Coll (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5) : A peptide that supports firmness and elasticity

• Adenosine, Allantoin, Hyaluronic Acid : Soothing, hydrating, and anti-inflammatory agents

Texture + Scent

• Texture : Rich, emollient cream that spreads easily and leaves a silky finish

• Sticky? : No

• Greasy? : Slightly greasy/emollient, especially noticeable on oilier skin types

• Balling up? : No

• Scent : Fragrance and essential oil free, but has a faint retinal scent that quickly fades

My Experience

I’ve been using this for 3 months, and while I haven’t seen a dramatic transformation in the eye area, my skin feels hydrated, smoother, and slightly firmer in texture. I appreciate the ingredients, particularly the retinal and peptides, and I trust the formula is working behind the scenes to support long-term skin health.

• Short-term effect : Hydrated and nourished eye area

• Long-term effect : Subtle improvement in skin texture and firmness

What I Liked

• Travel-friendly, hygienic pump packaging

• Cruelty-free, vegan, fragrance + EO free

• Contains retinal + Syn-Coll for effective well-ageing care

• Didn’t sting or cause irritation

• Moisturising and barrier-supportive

What I Didn't Like

• A bit too rich/emollient for my oily-combination skin

• Takes a while to absorb, especially in humid weather or under makeup

Overall Rating : 4/5

This is a great option for those looking for a well-aging eye treatment that focuses on hydration, skin barrier support, and gentle retinal use. While the texture isn’t ideal for my skin type, I still appreciate the formulation. I think those with drier or more mature skin will really enjoy this one.

• Would I Repurchase? : Undecided. The ingredients are excellent, especially for a retinal product at this price point. However, I prefer lighter textures. If I did repurchase, it would be for the ingredient list, not the texture.

• Dupe : If you’re looking for something similarly rich and well-formulated, the Paula’s Choice Clinical Ceramide-Enriched Firming Eye Cream is comparable. It also contains retinal and a host of skin-repairing and brightening ingredients. I personally find the Paula’s Choice version absorbs slightly better into the skin.

Nah for me. Tried it bc it had blew up on Tiktok and Instagram and I hoped it would brighten the dark area around my eyes. Yet, it's been like 6 months for me to use it but haven't seen any difference honestly😕 it's definitely overhyped.

Where did you get this? And how much was it. I looked it up and each site says different prices and afraid of getting fakes.
