This $10 Serum Wins Over My Fancy Skincare

Let me just say, aside from the unfortunate incident where I sliced my finger while twisting the cap (note to self : don't open dropper bottles with wet hands fresh out of a hot shower) as this serum has been amazing for my skin.

My skin is super sensitive and acne-prone. Since switching to a gentle, non-foaming cleanser, things have mostly calmed down, but whenever I do break out, the hyperpigmentation sticks around for months (seriously, six months at least).

I’ve used The Ordinary’s Alpha Arbutin 2% twice now, and older dark spots have already faded by at least 50%. My overall complexion looks brighter, too. I honestly didn’t expect it to do much, but this stuff is not only effective but it’s also super gentle, which is a win for sensitive skin.

Texture-wise, It has a silky, lightweight gel texture that dries down quickly and layers well under other products.

Let me give you a tip to be careful opening the bottle with slippery hands. Trust me.

Hence, RIP Clarins, Vichy, La Mer, and the rest of the luxury skincare aisle as this $10 serum just pulled off a skincare heist.

Alpha Arbutin is so underrated for post-acne marks. I’ve spent ridiculous amounts on brightening products and always come back to this one. I love that it doesn’t sting or cause purging like some vitamin C serums.

Okay but not you bleeding for the glow 😭😂 Been there though. Once sliced my thumb open on a glass toner bottle—why is skincare so dangerous??

Jokes aside, this serum is legit. It took about 3 weeks for me to see results, but it stuck. I use it every night before moisturizer and my skin tone has never looked more even.

Ugh I wish this worked for me 😭 It broke me out a little the first week so I stopped.

Maybe give a bit of time for your skin to get back and try this again with a calming moisturizer!

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about a $10 serum doing anything for my skin. But I caved after reading so many reviews—and wow. Totally proved me wrong. I still love my fancy creams, but this is 100% staying in my routine.

Haha yeah, but for me, good bye fancies! Might try other The Ordinary’s products! Cheap but still working
