The Cult-Favorite Serum in Olive Young. Is it Worth the Hype?

Product : Isoi Blemish Care Serum

Price : Originally about $50 for 50ml, scored 60ml for $26.5 during an Olive Young sale

With its bright pink bottle and status as the No. 1 serum at Olive Young, Isoi’s Blemish Care Serum has earned a spot in countless Korean skincare routines. I have combination, sensitive skin and have been dealing with a stubborn wave of breakouts lately so I figured it was finally time to see what the hype was all about.

First Impressions

Let’s get this out of the way, yes, it’s pricey. But I was lucky enough to snag a deal during a sale, which made the plunge feel a little less daunting. And while the results haven’t been dramatic, they’ve definitely been noticeable.

The texture is ultra-light and hydrating, absorbing quickly without any stickiness. After a few weeks of consistent use, I noticed a visible improvement in my skin's texture, especially those pesky tiny bumps. My T-zone feels more balanced, with less oiliness, while my cheeks stay comfortably hydrated.

Formula Highlights

□ Key ingredients include :

- Rosa Damascena Flower Oil & Water for calming and antioxidant benefits

- Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract, known for its brightening and healing properties

- Houttuynia Cordata Extract, a popular anti-inflammatory in K-beauty

- Betaine & Trehalose, humectants that help retain moisture

- Alcohol, present, and noticeable, but didn’t irritate my sensitive skin

□ The scent is a mix of rose and a hint of alcohol. While I personally enjoy the floral note, those sensitive to fragrance or alcohol might want to patch test first.

Things to Note

The packaging could be improved. The glass bottle feels luxe, but it’s not the most practical once you're down to the last few drops as it’s tricky to get all the product out without a bit of effort.

Conclusions

This serum feels like a skincare luxury, but one that genuinely contributed to my skin looking smoother and more balanced. While it may not be a miracle-worker for deeper acne or serious pigmentation, it’s a great choice for calming, hydrating, and improving overall skin condition, especially if you struggle with small bumps or texture.

Would I repurchase? Yes, especially if I catch it on sale again. If your skin needs a gentle reset, this might be your next favorite serum.

Not me adding this to cart immediately… I’ve been hunting for something that helps with tiny bumps without nuking my barrier. This sounds perfect.

I loved it for texture too! My closed comedones practically disappeared. Took about 3 weeks to see it.

Sea buckthorn is so underrated—this serum lowkey healed my post-acne marks. Just wish it had a pump.

So interesting to learn more about all these fancy ingredients! All I've known is ceramide, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and stuff and there's so much more 🤗🤗😭

Not the $50 only to get 50ml... I cry over anything higher than $35 and I'm seriously considering I should get this or not.

Not gonna lie, I wanted to hate this because of the price and rose scent (ugh), but it actually calmed down my forehead bumps better than anything I’ve tried lately. Still not thrilled about the alcohol tho…

GIRL you got it for $26.5?! I just stared at this in Olive Young last week but couldn't justify the $50 tag 😭

It’s not life-changing, but I keep coming back to this one during my “reset” weeks. It layers so well with other stuff and never causes pilling. I usually sandwich it between a calming toner and a richer barrier cream and it just… works.

I’ve been looking for something to target those tiny white bumps on my cheeks that aren’t full-on acne and this sounds promising.

Honestly? Meh. I liked it for the first 2 weeks but then my skin just plateaued.
