My Thoughts on the Shingmulnara White Rice Sun Gel (SPF 50+)

I’ve been testing the Shingmulnara White Rice Bright Tone Sun Gel Lotion for a couple of weeks now, and here’s my take. My skin is combination—oily in the T-zone, normal to dry on the cheeks—and I really dislike sunscreens that feel greasy or sticky.

The packaging is a simple, lightweight white tube that’s easy to carry around. The texture sits between a gel and a lotion, it looks creamy at first but spreads like a watery gel. I was worried it would leave a heavy film, but it absorbed quickly. The finish is satin, not flat matte but definitely not greasy either. My cheeks felt lightly hydrated while my forehead stayed under control, which is a win for me.

There’s no strong fragrance, just a faint fresh scent that fades quickly. On application it feels light, and my makeup goes on smoothly without pilling.

This sunscreen also has a tone up effect. On my light-medium skin it gives a fresh, healthy glow, almost like a subtle base. But on deeper or warmer tones, the cast could show up more obviously. I make sure to blend it down my neck to avoid mismatching.

Performance wise, with SPF 50+ and PA++++, it’s reliable protection. I tested it on hot days in Sydney and it held up without melting or turning oily. Reapplying was easy because the texture is so light.

There are a few downsides. If you’re very dry, it might not feel hydrating enough without moisturizer underneath, and the tone up effect can cling to dry patches if you don’t prep. Also, there’s a slight cooling, evaporating feel on application, so if your skin reacts badly to alcohol this could be an issue.

Overall: it’s a lightweight gel-lotion sunscreen that feels comfortable, layers well under makeup, and gives a brightening effect along with strong UV protection. The main caveats are the tone up cast and the alcohol presence, but if those don’t bother you, it’s a great everyday option.
