What's up grils! I wanted to share a roundup of all the skincare I’ve been using the past couple of months. I picked these up at the end of March so it’s been just over two months of consistent testing. Since I love writing quick reviews, I'm gonna show one item every day.
About Me
Skin type : Combo leaning dry
Skin concerns : Sensitivity, acne-prone, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and large pores
Climate : Mildly humid spring weather, nothing too extreme
Quick note : All of these products are fragrance and essential oil free. If I mention a scent, I’m referring to the natural scent that sometimes comes with unscented formulas.
So, Today I'm gonna talk about Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
Rating : 2/5 Would Not Repurchase
Okay, so I really wanted to love this serum. It’s been everywhere lately, and I totally get the appeal as the packaging is beautiful, the formula looks gentle and hydrating, and honestly, who doesn’t want a simple hyaluronic acid serum in their routine? But sadly, this one just didn’t work for me, and I’m a little bummed about it.
At first, everything seemed fine… until I started noticing a weird burning sensation whenever I layered on actives or sunscreen after applying it. My face would sting like, really sting and I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. I ended up doing a little skincare detective work, aka testing everything one by one, and it turns out this serum was the culprit.
After a bit of digging, I read that the low molecular hyaluronic acid in this formula helps other ingredients absorb more deeply into the skin, which is great in theory, but for my sensitive, reactive skin, it seemed to be a bit too effective. Actives that usually don’t irritate me suddenly became way too intense when used after this serum.
These days, I’ve relegated it to nights where I’m just focusing on hydration and skipping actives altogether. But even then… it just doesn’t feel like it’s doing much. When I compare it to something like the B-Lab Matcha Ampoule, which leaves me waking up with noticeably plumper, glowier skin, the Torriden just falls a little flat.
So, I do think this could work well for someone with a very simple routine, maybe if you’re just starting out in skincare or prefer minimal steps without too many actives. But for someone like me, who loves layering serums and using more targeted ingredients, this just didn’t mesh well with the rest of my routine.
Here is my last day-shelf!
