Hey Girrlie😊
Just wanted to share a quick review of the newly reformulated Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel (2024). For context, it's my first time to try any product of Kose and I have oily skin and use adapalene at night for acne, so finding a sunscreen that plays well with my routine is pretty important to me. I’ve been religious about SPF since 2015 thanks to my derm, and I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens both Western and Asian formulas over the years.
So here’s how this one measured up
💛 What I really liked
- True gel texture; This has the same watery gel feel I liked in the previous version, but what’s better is that it dries down beautifully, no greasy film, no weird stickiness. The finish is very natural: not too matte, not shiny.
- No pilling, finally!; One of my main issues with the older version was how easily it would pill, especially if I touched my face while it was drying or layered anything on top. This new one? Smooth sailing. No pilling, even when I wear makeup.
- Actually water-resistant; I sweat a lot, especially when I’m outside or working out, so I always lean toward water-resistant formulas. This held up really well, even after some light wiping (oops), it still felt like it had some grip.
- Plays nicely with makeup; I tried it under foundation and it didn’t mess with the texture or cause me to oil up more than usual. In fact, it outperformed other popular gel sunscreens like Skin Aqua Super Moisture Barrier and Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence when it came to controlling shine.
- No stinging, no dryness; Despite containing alcohol, this didn’t irritate my skin or make it feel tight, which is kind of rare with these types of formulas.
- No white cast; Totally clear on my skin, which is always a win.
- No added fragrance; There’s a slight alcohol scent at first, but it disappears pretty quickly once it dries.
💔 What to keep in mind
- Contains alcohol; If your skin is sensitive to alcohol, this might not be the one for you. It hasn’t caused any issues for me personally, but worth flagging.
What I'd like to mean with this review
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this update. It fixes all the issues I had with the old version while keeping that lightweight, gel-like texture I loved. It’s been a reliable everyday SPF for my oily, acne-prone skin, even when I’m sweating or wearing makeup.
If you're looking for a no-fuss, water-resistant sunscreen that won't mess with your routine, this one’s definitely worth a look.
Has anyone else tried the reformulation? Curious to hear how it worked for different skin types!
