I’ll be honest, this sunscreen was a total miss for me. I picked it up somewhat impulsively after a visit to a local Asian department store near my apartment. I had originally planned to repurchase my usual go-to, the Isntree Onion Newpair Sunscreen, but a couple of employees recommended the Heimish Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel instead.
Then a third employee chimed in, claiming the Isntree one was fragranced and suggested I go for the Heimish sunscreen since it's fragrance-free. I don’t usually consider my skin super sensitive, but I figured, why not? It was inexpensive and sounded like a safe bet.
Unfortunately, the moment I applied it the next morning, I knew I’d made a mistake. This sunscreen is definitely not fragrance-free. The scent hit me immediately, strong, floral, and lingering. I’m someone whose nose can be sensitive to strong smells, and this was overpowering enough to give me a headache that stuck with me the whole day. I didn’t even bother to reapply; I felt gross just having it on. At one point, I even tried to rinse some of it off at a sink while I was out.
To make matters worse, it also stung my eyes slightly, which just added to the discomfort. In terms of texture, it actually felt nice on the skin, lightweight and not greasy, but the fragrance was a total dealbreaker.
In general, if you enjoy scented skincare and don’t have a sensitive nose or eyes, you might get along with this sunscreen. But for me, the strong fragrance was too overwhelming to look past. Safe to say, I won’t be reaching for it again.
