so a few weeks ago i was complaining in a group chat about how my foundation’s been looking kinda meh lately. like, not bad, but just… not cute? like the kind of base that looks fine in the mirror but then you check your front cam and immediately regret all life decisions.
someone (bless you, lynn) said “girl just get the picasso puff. trust me.”
i thought she meant a literal painting tool at first but turns out it's a korean cushion puff lol. anyway i bought it. used it. and wow. w o w.
no offense to the puffs that come with cushions but what are y’all even doing. because the difference this made?? insane.
⠀
so here’s the deal:
i tried the picasso glow puff with three of my go-to bases:
• moonshot micro setting fit cushion
• nars light reflecting foundation (decanted into a cushion case lol)
• laneige neo matte
and every time? smoother. more even. less patchy. like it actually pressed the foundation into my skin instead of just smearing it around like frosting on a cake.
⠀
also… it’s thin?? like thinner than the typical cushion puff which i wasn’t sure about at first but now i get it.
you can fold it and reach into all the lil crevices around your nose and eyes without it feeling bulky.
the texture is soft too, not too spongey or rubbery. kind of like a baby velvet blanket had a baby with a beauty blender. idk how else to describe it but it just feels nice.
⠀
another thing: i have combo skin — oily-ish t-zone, dry-ish cheeks — and this puff somehow works with both.
like when i use it on my forehead it doesn’t make me look greasier, but on dry spots around my nose it doesn’t lift anything either.
with other puffs or sponges sometimes i feel like i’m just moving dryness around. this one kinda diffuses it.
⠀
cleaning was easy too.
i used a little brush soap and warm water and it rinsed out fast. no gross residue or weird smell after. it dried by the next morning.
i’ve washed it 3 times so far and it still looks and feels brand new.
⠀
honestly i wasn’t expecting to care this much about a $4 makeup tool but it’s giving luxury.
like… it made my $20 cushion look like it came from a $70 compact. that’s the level we’re at.
i’ve even used it to blend cream blush (rare beauty) and my undereye concealer (elf hydrating camo) and it didn’t eat up the product at all.
lowkey might stop using my big sponge for daily makeup. this is just easier to carry, easier to use, easier to clean.
⠀
downsides?
• it’s kinda hard to find. i ordered mine from olive young global but shipping took a bit.
• it’s small so if you’re used to big sponges or puffs, it might feel tiny
• i wish it came with a case or pouch or something cause now i carry it around in a tissue
⠀
but honestly? those are minor.
this is one of those things you buy just to try, and then it ends up becoming your new standard.
10/10. gonna buy a backup. probably 3.
that’s it. go get it. thank me later.
