Skin Type : Combination to oily, acne-prone. Complexion ranges from C3.5–C5 depending on the season, though regular SPF use keeps my face on the lighter side.

I’ve been working through a backlog of empties, and I’m finally getting around to reviewing some of them, starting with this internet-beloved sunscreen. Yes, I know the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun has been hyped to death, but here’s my two cents anyway.
Packaging & Price
The packaging is clean, minimal, and functional: a soft matte white tube that feels hygienic and travel-friendly. I picked up the duo pack, which came housed in a simple cardboard box, nothing fancy, but no unnecessary waste either. The soft tube design also means I can snip it open to get every last drop, which I always appreciate.
Price-wise, it usually retails under $25 depending on where you shop, and for the quality, I absolutely think it’s worth it.
Texture & Scent
The texture is where this sunscreen really shines at least for my skin type and preferences. It’s a lightweight gel-cream that glides on effortlessly, absorbs quickly, and never feels heavy or greasy. Even during recent bouts of humidity, I didn’t find myself dreading my morning SPF step.
It leaves behind a demi-matte to lightly dewy finish that works beautifully under makeup. Crucially, there’s no white cast on my skin tone, and no artificial or overpowering fragrance, which is a big win for sensitive or scent-averse users.
Usage & Longevity
One tube lasted me about five months with daily application to my face and neck. (Reminder : the "¼ teaspoon" rule isn’t a universal measurement as it’s based on average face size, so your mileage may vary.)
That said, I experienced no sunburn, no tanning, and no irritation during that time. For daily, non-intensive sun exposure, it performed beautifully.
Performance & Skin Impact
This sunscreen held up well in daily wear and even survived a beach trip though to be fair, I wore a hat, so I can’t definitively speak to its performance during full-day, high-exposure conditions.
Still, I noticed no darkening of pigmentation, no new spots, and no clogged pores while using it. In fact, my skin looked a touch more radiant over time, possibly thanks to the rice extract, which is known for its brightening benefits.
Repurchase?
Yes and no. I genuinely love this formula and would absolutely repurchase under normal circumstances. However, due to some current skin concerns, I need a more robust, high-performance sunscreen (hello again, Anessa). But if you’re dealing with mild to moderate sun exposure and want a gentle, makeup-friendly option, Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun is a top-tier pick.
