As someone with oily skin living in the bad heat and humidity, finding a daily sunscreen that feels weightless, non-greasy, and still plays well under makeup is a true feat. My expectations for the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Serum SPF50+ PA++++ were modest, especially after my disappointing experience with the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Barrier Gel, which left my skin feeling heavy and slick. But to my surprise, this serum defied all my assumptions and quickly became a standout in my rotation.
🌞 What It Promises (per Ratzilla)
▪︎ Broad-spectrum protection : SPF50+ PA++++
▪︎ Water-resistant (up to 80 minutes)
▪︎ Watery serum texture
▪︎ Made for dry, sensitive skin
▪︎ Free from alcohol, fragrance, parabens, mineral oil
At first glance, this product seems clearly tailored for dry skin types, which made me hesitant. But as someone whose combination-oily skin often reacts poorly to richer formulas, I was curious to see how this serum might perform under more extreme, real-world conditions like commuting, sweating, and layering under makeup.
🌿 Texture, Feel, and Finish
The texture is lightweight and fluid, true to the “watery serum” claim. It spreads effortlessly across the skin without tugging, sinking in faster than I expected from an alcohol-free formula. While it initially feels dewy upon application, it dries down to a finish that’s hydrating without being greasy, delivering a fresh, healthy glow rather than a slick shine.
What impressed me most is that it doesn’t form a greasy film, even after it sets. My skin felt breathable and balanced, never suffocated or overly slick, an unexpected but very welcome result for a product positioned toward dry skin.
There’s zero fragrance and no alcohol sting, making this ideal for those with sensitivities. It also caused no stinging around my eyes, even with generous application.
💄 Under Makeup Performance
I tested this under Make Up For Ever’s natural-matte foundation, and the results were lovely. The sunscreen added a subtle radiance beneath the matte finish, giving my base a slightly lit-from-within effect without interfering with wear time or texture. Think glow, not grease.
This formula also held up surprisingly well during a high-sweat gym session, which is impressive considering it's not marketed as a heavy-duty outdoor sunscreen. While I wouldn’t rely on it for hours of direct sun exposure, for everyday wear, including light activity, it performs admirably.
And as a bonus : it rinses off easily with a standard foaming cleanser, no oil-based removal needed.
✅ Pros Recap
▪︎ Lightweight, serum-like texture ideal for humid climates
▪︎ Alcohol- and fragrance-free
▪︎ No white cast
▪︎ Non-irritating, even around eyes
▪︎ Dewy (not greasy) finish
▪︎ Excellent under makeup
▪︎ Water-resistant for moderate activity
▪︎ Easy to remove
⚠️ Considerations
▪︎ While it worked beautifully for me, those who dislike any sort of dewiness or prefer a truly matte finish may find this a touch too radiant.
Not ideal as your sole sunscreen for prolonged outdoor ac▪︎ tivities or beach days.
💬 Final Thoughts
The Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Serum may be marketed for dry and sensitive skin, but it truly exceeded expectations on my oily skin in a humid climate. It balances hydration and wearability beautifully, without clogging pores or contributing to midday shine. In fact, it outperformed some of my previous favorites, including the latest Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence and Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel in terms of comfort and elegance for daily indoor-to-outdoor use.
If you’re after an alcohol-free, fragrance-free, cosmetically elegant sunscreen that doesn't weigh you down, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.
