[Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+] Years later, still my go-to — here’s my honest breakdown.

I’ve been using the Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+ for YEARS now, and while I’ve tried countless other sunscreens in the meantime, I keep coming back to this one. It’s not perfect, but nothing has come close to balancing my picky combo skin as well as this has.

First off, the texture: it’s right in the middle.

Not runny, not thick — I’d call it a creamy lotion that spreads smoothly but still holds its shape.

It’s not one of those watery sunscreens that disappear on contact, but it also doesn’t feel like you’re slathering paste on your skin.

It dries down fairly matte with a bit of a powdery finish. If you have oily skin, you’ll probably love it. For me (combo skin), it feels comfortable. But I’ll be real — it’s not that “barely-there” finish. You can feel it sitting on the skin just a little, and there’s definitely some oil control happening.

Now, about the white cast: yes, it exists. It’s part of the reason this works so well as a tone-up product, but on days when I skip foundation or BB cream, I really have to blend carefully to avoid a patchy look. And if I didn’t prep my skin well — moisturizer + maybe a hydrating primer — it could emphasize dry spots or cling slightly in areas like around the nose or chin.

But here’s why I still use it:

• It’s never broken me out.

• It never stings, even around the eyes.

• It holds up well in heat and humidity.

• It actually feels like it’s protecting my skin barrier, not just coating it.

I don’t think of this as a dewy K-beauty sunscreen. It’s more like a reliable daily shield for when I want full UV protection with no irritation, and I don’t mind doing a little work to blend it in.

It works especially well under lightweight base makeup — I’ve layered it under skin tints and cushion foundations with no issue.

Honestly? It’s not the sexiest sunscreen. But it’s the one I trust the most. And for sensitive-skin days or long outdoor errands, that reliability is gold. No wonder it’s stayed a staple in my routine for so long.

I’ve had this in my cart forever but wasn’t sure if the white cast would be a dealbreaker. I have medium-deep skin so would you say it blends out okay if I give it time, or is it better under makeup only?

Is it cute and glowy? No.
Does it smell like a beach holiday? Also no.
But will it protect your sensitive skin from UV doom without tears? Absolutely.
This one’s for the real ones.

This was actually one of the first mineral sunscreens that didn’t make my combo skin freak out. I totally relate to the texture description.
It’s not weightless, but it’s super workable, especially if I use a hydrating serum or gel cream underneath.
The white cast isn’t ideal, but I use this on days when I’m running errands or walking my dog and don’t care about a perfect finish. And yes, it never stings. Even when my barrier is fried from actives or tret. That alone makes it worth keeping around.
