It’s fine, but don’t expect it to deep-clean your pores [Bioderma sensibio H20]

I’ve seen the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water hyped up for years now, so I finally decided to try it properly.

And I’ll be honest: I get the appeal… but I’m not blown away.

Let’s start with the good: it definitely removes makeup well. For a product that feels just like water, it breaks down base makeup, lip products, and even most eyeshadows easily.

It’s especially nice when I want something gentle on my skin — no stinging, no tightness, no redness after wiping. It’s really calming, and I understand why sensitive skin types love it.

BUT… does it feel like a deep clean? Not really. I still feel like something’s sitting on my skin afterwards, even if nothing’s visible. And I don’t mean it leaves a residue — more like, I’m not convinced it’s really getting into the pores. After using this, I always go in with a second cleanser, because if I stop here, I break out.

Also, when it comes to mascara or eyeliner — you’ll need something else. This isn’t strong enough to remove waterproof eye makeup unless you rub a lot, which I don’t like doing around the eyes. I’ve gone back to using a separate eye makeup remover for that part.

I do like it for touch-ups or lazy-day cleansing. It’s fast, easy, and feels safe for the skin. But honestly? I don’t think it’s a must-have unless you have super reactive skin or wear very light makeup. I’ll probably finish this bottle, but I don’t feel the urge to repurchase right away.

    Btw serious Q here.
If it's not removing waterproof makeup or cleansing pores...what exactly makes this better than, say, garnier's pink cap at half the price? Genuinely curious about the hype.

For me, I do use a mascara remover or lip & eye remover for my eye makeup, but still this is THE ONLY thing I can use on my acne skin

Same here!! I use a gentle cleanser (which has less cleansing power than usual cleanser) after this and it works perfect! For some sensitive girlies, this isn't an option but the only solution

I don't get the hype either. It's just water

Depends but I personally don't like the oily residue after using cleansing balm so I prefer this one

I prefer cleansing balm for its cleansing power. Can't use more than 2 for cleansing

    7 years with my og
    - Best for sensitive skin flare-ups
    - Perfect post-procedure cleanser
    - Overhyped as standalone product
    - Not worth the markup vs drugstore dupes

This!!! It's not about deep cleaning but it's about being the only thing that doesn't get my rosacea mad. I'll take gentle over squeaky clean any day.
