Duration of Use
While I initially used the Goodal Heartleaf Calming Moisture Sun Cream sporadically over five months, I've incorporated it into my daily routine for the past month, bringing my total usage to roughly six months.
Packaging
The packaging is fairly standard. It comes in a compact 1.7 oz tube with a twist-off cap. While the cap is secure, it sometimes requires extra effort to open, which can result in a bit of product being dispensed unintentionally. Although the size is smaller than ideal for daily sunscreen use, this is a common issue across many brands. The soft green color is visually calming, and the use of recycled materials for the outer box is a thoughtful touch.
Texture & Scent
This sunscreen is exceptionally lightweight, noticeably lighter than popular alternatives such as Beauty of Joseon or Isntree. It applies easily, absorbs quickly, and leaves no greasy residue. The scent is minimal, with a faint herbal-chemical note that’s only detectable upon close inspection.
Performance
In terms of daily wear, this sunscreen checks nearly every box. It provides mild hydration, sits well under makeup and moisturizers, and does not pill or cause irritation, even around the eyes or during sweat. Despite having very dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin, I haven’t experienced any new breakouts while using it. It also doesn’t contain niacinamide, which I personally avoid due to sensitivity.
While I can't speak to long-term anti-aging or calming effects due to my age and avoidance of prolonged sun exposure, the formula has effectively prevented tanning, burning, and freckling throughout daily use. Whether the heartleaf extract actively calms my skin is unclear, but it certainly hasn’t caused any harm.
What I Liked
-Lightweight, fast-absorbing texture
-No white cast or greasiness
-Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, niacinamide-free
-Gentle enough for sensitive and acne-prone skin
-Tested SPF 50+ and PA++++ ratings
-Affordable when on sale
What I Disliked
-Twist cap can be finicky
-Tube contains only 1.7 oz, which is less than ideal for daily application
So, this sunscreen has become a holy grail product in my routine. It's one of the few that doesn’t dry out, irritate, or break out my skin, an increasingly rare combination for those with sensitive, acne-prone complexions. It utilizes modern chemical filters and a minimalist, non-reactive formula, making it a standout among current SPF offerings.
Quick review
An underrated, gentle chemical sunscreen ideal for sensitive, dry, or acne-prone skin. Minimalist formulation, no white cast, and no irritation. 10/10, a reliable staple I’ll keep repurchasing.
