An Honest Review: Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil

About Me

sensitive combination skin with a history of reactive breakouts. Invests carefully in skincare and expects functional performance from every step of the routine.

I had high hopes for this cleansing oil after seeing it praised on social media and among some K-beauty circles. I was especially interested in the “pore control” angle, since my skin has been temperamental lately and prone to congestion.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long to realize this product was not for me.

From the very first use, I found the packaging frustrating. The pump shoots product unpredictably, making a mess every time I try to dispense it. Sometimes it spurts sideways, sometimes barely anything comes out. Not a dealbreaker on its own, but definitely annoying for a daily product.

The formula itself was also a letdown. It’s thick and heavy on the skin, and what shocked me most was how poorly it emulsifies. Even after massaging with water, it barely turns milky, and I’m left feeling like it just sits on top of my skin. This means makeup and sunscreen don’t come off properly, which defeats the entire point of using a cleansing oil.

Worse still, every time I used this, I experienced a strong sense of heat on my skin immediately after rinsing. My cheeks, in particular, would flush with redness, and by the next day I had new inflamed bumps, especially around my nose and chin. I tried to give it a fair shot, using it for several days to confirm it wasn’t a fluke, but the irritation kept coming back.

For a product marketed as calming and pore-purifying, it did exactly the opposite for me. I don’t consider my skin extremely sensitive, but this made it feel raw and vulnerable. My pores looked angrier and more congested than they had in weeks.

And honestly, the price point makes it even harder to justify. It's not outrageously expensive, but for something that fails at the basic cleansing step and causes irritation, it's not worth it.

Final Thoughts

If your skin leans sensitive or reactive, I’d seriously advise against this. It didn’t emulsify well, failed to cleanse thoroughly, and made my skin flare up worse than any oil cleanser I’ve used in years.

One-line summary : Looks gentle on the outside, but my skin paid the price.
