I don’t usually write full-length sunscreen reviews, but I just finished an entire tube of the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics and it deserves a proper breakdown.
It took me just under 3 months to finish the whole thing — and that’s with generous daily application. That should already tell you something: I actually wanted to use it. Every single day.
Let’s start with the texture, because that’s where this sunscreen truly shines. It’s light, silky, and lotion-like — not gel-like, not creamy — but that perfect in-between that spreads like a dream and feels instantly hydrating.
It glides on with zero tug, absorbs within seconds, and leaves no white cast, no stickiness, and no greasy residue. I have combo skin, and it works beautifully on both my oilier T-zone and drier cheeks.
The finish is natural — slightly dewy, not shiny.
It makes my skin look healthy but not wet. I could easily layer this under makeup or wear it on bare skin, and in both cases, it gave me a smooth, even look with no pilling. For base makeup, it actually acts like a lightweight primer, giving a bit of slip while still letting products adhere well.
Now, the hydration factor: it’s real. This sunscreen contains 30% rice extract and probiotics, and while I can’t say I felt some dramatic fermentation magic, I can say this kept my skin feeling balanced and soft all day. I didn’t experience any midday flaking, and it never felt drying — even on days I skipped moisturizer underneath.
Application-wise, I use about half a teaspoon for my face and neck — sometimes more — and I never felt like it was too much. It layers well for reapplication (no clumping), and I didn’t have to wait long between layers.
During the 3 months I used it:
• No breakouts
• No stinging near the eyes
• No sunscreen smell
• No white cast, even when reapplied midday
Honestly, the only “con” I can think of is that I finished the tube too quickly — but to be fair, I’m someone who applies sunscreen generously and consistently, so it’s not really the product’s fault.
As someone who has tried Korean sunscreens for years — from Missha to Round Lab to Isntree — this one genuinely stands out for its comfort, wearability, and elegant finish. I already have a second tube on the way.
If you’ve been on the fence or waiting to see if the hype is justified: this is one of those rare times it actually is. A sunscreen that works for daily use, feels amazing, and fits seamlessly into any routine — yes, please.
- how often do you apply this?
- where did you get this?
- is there any pilling under makeup?
- is it waterproof?
- any big difference compared to the OG?
