My Skin Type + Why I Bought It

Combo skin, sensitive barrier. Easily congested around the nose/chin, dry on the cheeks. I don’t break out easily, but my skin flares when it’s not happy.

 

I’m very ingredient-conscious — I don’t care about hype, only whether a formula is actually built well.

 

I picked up mixsoon Bean Essence after reading the ingredient list, which is surprisingly simple. No added fragrance, no alcohol, no essential oils. Just fermented bean, pomegranate, barley, and pear extracts. Fermentation = potential probiotics = skin microbiome health.

That was the theory. But I needed to see how it actually performed.

 

 

I bought the 50ml pump bottle first, then switched to the 100ml dropper version.

Pump is cleaner, but dropper gives you more control with this texture — and you’ll need it.

This essence has a distinct, stringy consistency. It’s not watery. It’s not gel.

It’s like very light syrup that stretches between your fingers. No stickiness, but the slip is real.

It spreads best on slightly damp skin. I use 3 drops, max. I warm it between palms and press, not swipe. Rubbing makes it pill under other products.

 

Absorption takes around 1–2 minutes. No film, no shine. Skin feels slightly firm after, not dewy.

 

Formula Breakdown + Ingredient Thoughts

Let’s get nerdy for a second.

Fermented soybean extract (Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract): rich in amino acids and peptides. Good for skin elasticity and hydration barrier.

Pomegranate, Barley, Pear extracts (fermented): gentle antioxidants. Help support calm, balanced skin.

• No preservatives or actives that typically trigger sensitive skin. Clean, focused formulation.

 

This formula doesn’t rely on high percentages of hyaluronic acid or niacinamide to “feel” active. Instead, it strengthens skin slowly, focusing on balance rather than instant glow.

 

 

My Results After 6 Weeks

 

 

I didn’t see visible changes in the first 10 days. No glass skin. No sudden brightness.

 

But what I did notice: my skin got less reactive over time.

That tight feeling after cleansing? Gone.

Flakiness around my mouth? Reduced.

Skin looked smoother under foundation — which is big, because I have texture.

Makeup wore better by noon, especially in drier zones.

Is it a miracle product? No.

 

But I realized — this essence makes the rest of my routine work better.

It’s like the stable foundation that allows my active serums (vitamin C, azelaic acid) to do their job without triggering inflammation.

• Those who hate stringy textures (I get it.)

 

 

Final Thoughts: Worth It?

For me, yes. I didn’t fall in love with it overnight, but I trust this product now.

It’s not exciting, but it’s stable. My skin likes it. And that’s rare.

Repurchase? Already did — and I upgraded to the 100ml.

If you want a fermented essence that respects your skin barrier instead of fighting it, give this one time.

It’s slow skincare — but that doesn’t mean it’s weak.
