Why the CeraVe Foaming Cleansing Bar Is My New Go-To Cleanser

For reference, I have oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin.

I’ve been using this cleansing bar for the past few months, and honestly, it’s hands down the best cleanser I’ve tried at this price point. It’s around $7.79 at Walnmart (in-store or online), but considering how long it lasts and how well it performs, that’s a steal. (product link here)

Rating : 9/10

I’ve used the liquid version before, but decided to try the bar to reduce my plastic consumption. I’m also always on the lookout for products I can swap from liquid to solid, especially for travel, and this one hasn’t disappointed. I honestly don’t think I’ll switch back.

Here are my main takeaways

It lasts for months, even with daily use. I’m still amazed at how far it stretches my dollars. Definitely one of the biggest reasons it's a staple in my routine. Take note, y’all.

From the Cerave website

- Keeps my skin clear and balanced. My skin looks and feels healthy, not stripped.

- Lathers and cleanses just as well as the liquid version. It really does foam, which I prefer since I have oily skin.

- Ingredients

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Water (Aqua/Eau), Sodium Isethionate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Kaolin, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Potassium Phosphate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Carbomer, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Zinc PCA, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Ceteareth-20, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cholesterol, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Phosphate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Ethylhexylglycerin.

** Great ingredients for normal to oily skin. The kaolin clay in particular helps with gentle cleansing without over-drying. My skin doesn’t feel tight or squeaky which usually signals over-cleansing, but it still feels clean and balanced, just like when I used the liquid version. If you want to double-check, you can always use a cotton round afterward to see if any residue is left.

- Works well as a second cleanse. I love using it after an oil cleanser. It’s gentle, so I wouldn’t rely on it alone to remove water-resistant sunscreen or makeup.

Final thoughts

I highly recommend giving this cleanser a try, especially if you’re into low-waste skincare or want something affordable and effective for oily or acne-prone skin. It’s travel-friendly, cost-effective, and just works.

Cerave really did something with this one. I pair it with their PM lotion and my skin stays balanced.
