Day 1 thoughts from a minimalist, combo-skin girl in LA
I’m over complicated skincare. I used to be that person with 6 serums open at once, chasing glow like it was a full-time job, but honestly? My skin just wants peace. So now, I look for formulas that do their job without extra drama — and sunscreen is the hardest one to get right.
Enter: SKIN1004’s Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum. I bought it because the ingredient list was boring (in a good way), and I saw a lot of people online say it didn’t feel like typical sunscreen. I don’t need glowy filters or perfume in my SPF. I need it to not suck.
First impression? Surprisingly great. The texture is super light, kinda like a watery lotion or thin emulsion. It glides on and absorbs like my skin actually wants it there. No sticky residue, no white cast — even on my jawline and near my eyes, which is usually where things start to look weird.
🟢 no fragrance
🟢 no pilling under makeup
🟢 didn’t sting my eyes (bless)
🟢 wore well with moisturizer underneath
And yeah, it actually feels like a serum. If I didn’t know better, I wouldn’t have guessed this was SPF 50+. There’s no greasy afterfeel, and it leaves my skin hydrated but not shiny. I wore it under my lightweight mineral tint today and had no texture issues.
My only complaint? The pump dispenses a bit more than I need, and the cap doesn’t snap on tightly. I wouldn’t trust it loose in a bag, but for a bathroom shelf, it's fine.
Will it break me out? Too soon to tell. But so far, my combo skin hasn’t reacted weirdly at all. If this holds up during my morning walk and doesn’t clog anything by the weekend, we might have a keeper.
Let’s see how it does over the next week. I’ll report back if it starts to betray me — but right now? I’m actually impressed.
