Hi girls! I have posted a bunch of lists so far and was really heartened by how helpful others found it, so I thought I’d share it here too. However this time I’ll keep the reviews short and sweet, but feel free to ask if you want me to elaborate on anything!
* Check out the last part!
About My Skin
I’m with combination, acne-prone, and sensitive skin. My skin does not get along with fragrance, citrus oils, or floral essential oils, so I’ve become a bit of an ingredients nerd by necessity. I still have plenty to learn, but hopefully this list helps others with similarly reactive skin or anyone looking to simplify their routine based on honest experiences.
1. Versed Sunday Morning Antioxidant Oil-Serum – 1/10
Pros : It’s affordable and easy to find, which initially made it appealing. The idea of a biphase oil-serum hybrid sounded great on paper, light hydration with antioxidant benefits in one step? Yes, please.
Cons : Unfortunately, this just didn’t deliver. The biphase formula separated oddly over time and started to look cloudy and unappealing, even when shaken before use. On my skin, it felt like applying... well, nothing. No noticeable hydration, no glow, and no real antioxidant payoff. It might work better for someone with extremely sensitive skin who wants something very gentle, but for me, it was a skip.
Bottom Line : I wanted to like this, but it felt like a filler step in my routine, nice in theory, but ultimately forgettable.
2. Murmure Bisou Clarifying Dry Oil – 10/10
Pros : This is one of those quiet gems that doesn’t get enough hype. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and somehow manages to make a big difference in how my skin looks by morning. I apply it about twice a week at night, never on my retinol nights, and I always wake up with calmer, clearer, less congested skin. My blackheads and tiny under-the-skin bumps are noticeably reduced after just one use.
Cons : It contains hazelnut oil, so definitely patch-test if you have nut allergies or sensitive skin. Also, it's a bit niche and can be tricky to get your hands on, depending on where you live.
Bottom Line : I can confidently say this has become a staple in my routine. It’s a clarifying treatment disguised as a gentle, elegant oil, and I wish more people knew about it.
3. Typology Glycolic Acid 10% Exfoliating Toner – 3/10
Pros : Typology as a brand is minimalist and affordable, think French pharmacy meets The Ordinary. This product is well-priced and packaged nicely in a sleek glass bottle. If your skin tolerates strong exfoliants, the 10% glycolic acid could be effective at improving texture and dullness.
Cons : Sadly, it was too harsh for my skin. I experienced breakouts, redness, and sensitivity even when using it just once a week. The high glycolic concentration was a bit much for my sensitive, combination skin. I suspect this would be better suited for more resilient or oily skin types that need stronger exfoliation.
Bottom Line : Not a great match for me, but not a bad product overall. I’d just recommend starting slow or opting for a gentler acid if you have reactive skin.
Hope this helps my fellow sensitive skin friends navigate the skincare jungle and I'm always happy to share more if it's helpful! Stay tuned for the next chapter:)
