Why Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+ became my go-to neck SPF

Let’s get into the real reason I kept using the Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+:

The texture. It’s one of the most unique and pleasant textures I’ve encountered in a mineral sunscreen, especially one that isn’t trying to be overly “light” or dewy.

When I first squeezed it out, I expected something chalky or overly thick like other zinc oxide sunscreens I’ve tried. But no, it’s actually got a creamy, almost lotion-gel hybrid feel. There’s a little bit of bounce and density to it, but it spreads out evenly and doesn’t feel dry or pasty at all.

As you start to blend, you can feel that it’s not watery, but also not too rich. It has a certain “grip” to it, which I love because it stays in place once applied. You can tell it’s forming a proper physical barrier on the skin, not just vanishing like a chemical filter.

Now, the finish: it definitely has a white cast, especially on the face. I’d call it a soft matte tone-up — not powdery or drying, but visibly lighter than my natural tone. On my light-medium skin, it’s not extreme, but enough that I wouldn’t personally wear it on my face unless I’m wearing makeup over it. That’s why I found my sweet spot: my neck.

I started applying this to my neck and chest area, and it’s been amazing. No irritation, no sticky residue that gets caught in my hair, and the even tone it gives my neck actually helps balance out my makeup face/neck color difference.

Another thing I love about the texture is how it sets — it’s not dewy, not greasy, and doesn’t transfer much onto clothing. It gives that soft, powder-finish feel but without drying out the skin. It doesn’t pill, even when I layer moisturizer or reapply in the afternoon.

There’s a calm comfort in using something that feels substantial but isn’t suffocating. I’ve tried mineral sunscreens that leave a dry mask on my skin or are impossible to blend. This isn’t that. It takes a little time to rub in, sure, but once you do, the payoff is that semi-matte, evened-out tone and non-irritating wear all day.

So yes — I use this mostly on my neck, but I love it for what it is: a reliable, gentle, texture-perfect sunscreen that actually makes my skin look better. I still dream of a zero-white-cast version, but until then? This one’s staying in rotation.

I like that substantial but not suffocatingpart. So many mineral SPFs get this wrong, either too greasy or too chalky. This one's in the Goldilocks zone.

My rosacea only accepts this for suncare. The tone-up effect neutralizes redness perfectly under foundation!

    + Doesn't stain white collars
    - Cap cracks in purses
    - Needs 2min to blend fully
Still repurchasing, that neck/chest trick is genius👏

Phew! Finally someone gets it! That lotion-gel hybrid texture is everything as most zinc sunscreens feel like spackle. This is the only one I can tolerate on my eczema-prone neck.

Is this more like a gel or lotion? I've been seeing so many mixed opinions on texture of it
