[Honest Review] BOJ Empties : Glow Deep & Calming Serum

I have Combo, sensitive and acne-prone skin with hyperpigmentation.

When I picked up these two Beauty of Joseon serums, I was really hoping they'd help calm my redness and even out my skin tone. I had high hopes… but unfortunately, they didn’t live up to the hype for me. Here’s how they performed after using both for about two months.

Glow Deep Serum (Rice + Alpha Arbutin)

This one has a watery, lightweight texture with no noticeable scent. It sounds great on paper with brightening ingredients like rice extract and alpha arbutin but in practice, it didn’t do much for me. Yes, it gave my skin a nice glow, but beyond that? I didn’t notice any real improvement in tone, breakouts, or pigmentation. Just… kind of there.

- Texture : Watery

- Feel : Lightweight, layers well

- Result : Glowy finish but no visible change

- Thoughts : Disappointing. Pretty much ineffective.

Calming Serum (Green Tea + Panthenol)

This one has a light gel consistency with a soft herbal scent that I actually liked. It sounded perfect for calming my sensitive skin and reducing redness. But again after two months of consistent use, I couldn’t see any difference. No calming effect, no help with irritation or blemishes. My skin didn’t react badly, but it didn’t benefit either.

- Texture : Gel-like

- Scent : Mildly herbal

- Result : No major impact

- Thoughts : Sadly, didn’t deliver on its calming promise.

In general, even though they’re affordable and have a nice texture, both serums ended up being all feel and no real results. I’m honestly a bit disappointed because I’ve had good experiences with other Beauty of Joseon products. These just didn’t do anything for my skin. Maybe others have had better luck but this was my experience!
