A Gentle Reset : Testing the Arencia Royal Blue Hyssop Scrub Cleanser

I recently picked up the Arencia Royal Blue Hyssop Scrub Cleanser, and after a week of testing, I’m genuinely impressed. I enjoyed it so much that I’ve already added another product from the brand, the Lime Hibiscus Cleanser, to my rotation (a non-scrub, review to follow separately).

Overview

This cleanser is described by the brand as a cooling, refreshing formula designed to tackle dry, flaky skin. What sets it apart is its 2-in-1 format : it functions both as a gentle exfoliating cleanser and as a wash-off face pack.

* Use it as a pack : Apply directly to dry skin, leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse.

* Use it as a cleanser : Lather with water and massage in for a foaming cleanse.

It has a unique “rice cake” texture that softens on contact with skin and provides mild, physical exfoliation without feeling abrasive.

Ingredient Highlights

This cleanser features a robust blend of over 20 botanical extracts, targeting hydration, soothing, and skin balance. Key ingredients include :

▪︎ Sweet Almond Seedcake Extract for nourishment

▪︎ Rice Powder and Kaolin for gentle exfoliation and oil control

▪︎ Hyssopus Officinalis Extract, Green Tea, Licorice Root, and Witch Hazel for calming and brightening

▪︎ Centella Asiatica, Fig Extract, and Oat Kernel Extract for barrier support

Despite the long INCI list, it feels balanced and well-formulated for sensitive or reactive skin types.

Texture & Performance

The cleanser has a smooth, paste-like consistency that feels cushiony and slightly cooling upon application. When used as a face pack, it provides a nice refreshing sensation, and after rinsing, my skin feels soft, smooth, and calm. Used as a daily cleanser, it foams lightly and leaves no tightness or residue behind.

There’s a light herbal fragrance that fades quickly, pleasant and not overwhelming.

Price & Sourcing

I purchased the 50g mini tub for USD $14 from a local Japanese beauty retailer.

It retails for USD $31 (120g) on Olive Young Global, but is frequently discounted (currently at $25).

Given the concentration of high-quality botanicals and the dual-purpose format, I find the price quite reasonable, especially when discounted.

Final Thoughts

The Arencia Royal Blue Hyssop Scrub Cleanser is a standout if you're looking for a multitasking product that gently exfoliates without stripping the skin. Its soothing, plant-powered formula makes it ideal for those with sensitive, dull, or combination skin in need of gentle renewal. I’ll definitely be reaching for this regularly and I’m excited to see how the Lime Hibiscus cleanser compares.

Okay, this cleanser sounds like it has to be magic. A scrub and a face pack in one? That’s next level multitasking. 😍

I think it's that dual purpose factor that's really winning me over. I love products that are versatile enough to be used in different ways. If it really works as both a cleanser and a mask, that's a huge bonus.

Honestly though, the rice cake texture is intriguing. I’ve been into anything with that soft, cushiony feel lately. I feel like it’ll just melt into my skin.

Loving the sound of this. I've been on the hunt for smth that exfoliates without feeling like I'm sandpapering my face. Is this gentle enough for daily use, tho?

The fact that it's got rice powder and kaolin? I'm in. Those two are like a calming dream for my skin. My face gets so irritated, so I really need something soothing but effective.

Did anyone else catch that it's got centella and fig Extract in it?? I'm just saying, those are a power couple for barrier support. My skin's been all over the place, so I need that combo like yesterday.

Same, the ingredient list is chef’s kiss for sensitive skin. I’m loving that it’s got a mix of hydrating and soothing botanicals but no harsh stuff. Oh, and no alcohol! 🙌

I’m definitely curious about using it as a mask. Imagine putting it on after a long day, chilling for 15 minutes, then feeling all refreshed afterward.

Fr, the cooling sensation sounds like it'd be a game-changer in summer. I live for a good, calming face mask after a hot and sweaty day.

Okay but I really wanna know if it foams well. I can't stand cleansers that don't lather enough, even though I know it's not all about foam. Is the foam gentle but effective?

They say it foams lightly so I'm hoping it's like that perfect balance, not too foamy but still cleanses without drying. I also love that it doesn't leave any residue behind after washing. No tightness is a bad plus for me.

I’m also here for the herbal scent. I know it fades quickly, but a light fragrance can be so refreshing and grounding, you know?

Okay, but the price, $14 for the 50g mini? Honestly, that’s a steal. If it performs like this, I’d 100% grab it on sale. The bigger tub for $25 is basically a no-brainer.

Love a good deal, especially when it's something that feels luxurious but not crazy overpriced. Honestly, for all the botanical in it, $25 isn't bad at all.

So, would we recommend this for combo skin? It sounds great for sensitive or dull skin, but im wondering if it will be enough to balance my oil lier t-zone while soothing my cheeks.

For combo skin, I think this could actually be a great fit. It’s hydrating but not overly rich, so I’m guessing it’ll hit that sweet spot. Plus, the kaolin should help with oil control, so you’re covered there.

@Influencer Right?? I think it’ll give a good amount of moisture and calm without leaving you too greasy or stripped. Definitely sounds like it’d work for your T-zone too.
