My Wild Ride with VT Reedle Shot 100: A Skincare Experiment

Okay, let’s talk about the VT Reedle Shot 100, because WOW—I have some things to say. When I first heard about this serum, I was both excited and mildly terrified. Micro-needles? In a serum? That’s either pure genius or a potential disaster waiting to happen. But being the skincare guinea pig that I am, I obviously had to try it.

First things first, the texture. It’s a lightweight gel that feels super smooth… until you start rubbing it in. That’s when you feel the ""Reedles."" Yep, those little micro-needles make their grand entrance, and let me tell you, it’s a wild sensation. Not painful, exactly, but definitely noticeable. Like a very, VERY gentle exfoliating scrub, but in a serum. The first time I used it, I thought, ""Oh, this is fine!"" And then about 30 seconds later—BAM. A slight tingling that turned into a light prickling sensation. It wasn’t unbearable, but I definitely knew something was happening.

Now, the science-y bit: VT claims that these ""Reedles"" are made from hydrolyzed spicules, which are basically tiny little needle-like structures that help deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin. In theory, this should lead to better absorption and more effective results. The serum is also packed with Centella Asiatica (hello, soothing benefits), Niacinamide (brightening, obviously), and Peptides (because who doesn’t want firmer skin?). So, in terms of ingredients, it’s bringing a lot to the table.

The real question, though—does it work? I used this every other night for about three weeks, and here’s what I noticed. First off, my skin was GLOWING. Like, ""Oh wow, did I drink two gallons of water today?"" glowing. The texture of my skin also looked smoother, which I assume is due to the mild exfoliation happening with the micro-needles. My pores? Less noticeable. Fine lines? A little softer. Overall, my face just looked… fresher.

But let’s talk about the side effects, because this isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. If you have sensitive skin, approach with caution. The tingling can get intense, and on days when my skin barrier was feeling a little weak, this serum was NOT my friend. I made the mistake of using it after a slightly too-aggressive exfoliating session, and my face basically staged a protest—redness, irritation, the whole deal. So, lesson learned: don’t layer this with anything too harsh.

Who would love this? If you’re into innovative skincare and want that post-facial glow without actually getting a facial, this could be your new best friend. If your skin is on the sensitive side or you hate anything remotely prickly, maybe skip it.

Final verdict? I’m impressed. It’s not an everyday serum for me, but when I want my skin to look extra smooth and radiant, this is what I reach for. Just be prepared for a little tingle—and maybe don’t use it right before a hot yoga session unless you enjoy feeling like your face is on fire. Lesson learned.

Thank you for the honesty. I have reactive skin so I’ll probably skip this one. I appreciate you mentioning the downsides.

This sounds like a terrible idea. Spicules can cause microtears if overused. No thanks.

This is like microneedling lite and I kinda love it 😳💡 Been using it every 3 nights and my pores have seriously vanished 😭

Spicules = hydrolyzed sponge needles. They’re popular in Korean derm spas. Basically, they help active ingredients penetrate deeper but can irritate compromised skin. Definitely not for beginners.

Omg I always wondered what “spicules” meant—thanks for explaining!! That makes so much sense now.

Yikes!! So it’s like micro-needling but without the roller?

Kinda! It’s way gentler than a roller, but you can still feel the prickle. Like tiny cactus needles

I started with every 3 nights, then moved to every other night once my skin got used to it.

Yes!! I follow up with a centella cream or something with panthenol. No actives after spicules.

I like SKIN1004 and numbuzin. They both have calming products that don’t break me out.

@Influencer Trueeeee. And if it gets me glowy skin without a derm visit, I’m all in.
