My Skincare Diary - The Best and Worst, part 15

Hi girls! I have posted a bunch of lists so far and was really heartened by how helpful others found it, so I thought I’d share it here too. However this time I’ll keep the reviews short and sweet, but feel free to ask if you want me to elaborate on anything!

* Check out the last part!

About My Skin

I’m with combination, acne-prone, and sensitive skin. My skin does not get along with fragrance, citrus oils, or floral essential oils, so I’ve become a bit of an ingredients nerd by necessity. I still have plenty to learn, but hopefully this list helps others with similarly reactive skin or anyone looking to simplify their routine based on honest experiences.

1. COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser – 7.5/10

Pros : A simple, fuss-free cleanser with a mildly acidic pH, which is ideal for maintaining the skin barrier. It has a light gel consistency that lathers well and doesn’t overly strip the skin and I think it's great for beginners or as a basic morning cleanse. Also, it's widely available and affordable.

Cons : It can feel a little drying if your skin is already compromised or dehydrated, and contains tea tree oil, which may be irritating for very sensitive or sun-damaged skin. It's not effective at removing heavy sunscreen or makeup so you'll definitely need a proper first cleanser.

Bottom Line : This is a classic beginner-friendly cleanser that does the job without irritating most skin types. It’s nothing flashy, but it’s a solid choice for oily-combo skin or those just starting out in skincare. I used this years ago and remember liking it overall, though I’ve since moved on to gentler options.

2. Purito Defence Barrier pH Cleanser – 7/10

Pros : It has a thinner, gel-like texture that feels very gentle and non-stripping and is formulated with centella asiatica extract and other calming ingredients, making it a good fit for barrier-supportive routines. Additionally, it lasts forever as I had my bottle for almost two years!

Cons : This also contains tea tree oil, which I avoided during a sunburn flare-up and it's not strong enough to remove heavy sunscreens or anything with a white cast. It doesn’t stand out compared to newer, more refined gentle cleansers.

Bottom Line : I liked this more than the COSRX one due to the gentler, thinner feel and its skin-friendly formula. However, it's not a deep-clean kind of cleanser and falls short for thorough sunscreen removal. It’s a good option for sensitive or acne-prone skin, but I think there are more elegant formulas out there now.

3. From Nature Aloe Vera Moist Cleansing Foam – 6/10

Pros : It has a pleasant cucumber-fresh scent that I personally enjoyed so it gives a refreshing feel and lathers well and provides a satisfying cleanse without being too aggressive, working fine on my skin even during a sunburn episode, though I used it with caution.

Cons : The fragrance may be a deal-breaker for those with sensitivity and it's slightly stripping, especially if you’re dry or using strong actives. On the thicker, foamy side, similar to The Face Shop’s Rice Water Bright cleanser, so not the most modern or gentle formulation.

Bottom Line : This one was fine for a basic cleanse and didn’t cause issues even when my skin was a little sensitive, but there’s nothing remarkable about it. It’s not bad if you're on a budget or like that rich, traditional foamy cleanser feel, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to repurchase it.

Hope this helps my fellow sensitive skin friends navigate the skincare jungle and I'm always happy to share more if it's helpful! Stay tuned for the next chapter:)
