What I Loved, Didn’t Love, and Want to Try Next, Part 6 - Moisturizers

Hope you liked my other parts, and if it's your first time to see this, don't miss out the others! Come see my last part

Since the first year I truly dove headfirst into skincare, I've tried and tested a number of skincare products. Of them, there were products repurchased, and politely passed on a fair share of products. Here’s a roundup of some of the moisturizers that stood out for better or worse, along with some notes on what I’m hoping to explore in the future.

Skin Type : DRY. I was on Accutane a few years ago, so lingering dryness is a constant. I still get the occasional breakout, and right now my main focus is fading hyperpigmentation. My skin’s pretty resilient so most products don’t irritate or break me out easily.

MOISTURISERS

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

Rating : 2/5 | Would not repurchase

I had high hopes for this one as it’s incredibly moisturizing, probably the most hydrating formula I’ve tried this year. The texture is satisfyingly thick, which I usually love. Unfortunately, it ended up clogging my pores and gave me closed comedones. It took months to fully recover, which was a real disappointment. Bonus oddity: it has a weird aftertaste reminiscent of Pringles, which definitely didn’t help its case.

Clinique Moisture Surge

Rating : 4.5/5 | Would repurchase

I received a sample of this and was pleasantly surprised. It’s lightweight, but still delivers a solid dose of hydration. Absorbs quickly, layers well, and doesn’t irritate. A great option for daytime or under makeup.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

Rating : 5/5 | Would repurchase

This one really impressed me. It’s slightly thicker than Moisture Surge, but still sinks in nicely without feeling greasy. I appreciate the hygienic pump packaging and the inclusion of urea for gentle hydration. I also tried the white cartridge from their custom-blend system, but in my opinion, if you’re already using targeted actives, the cartridges are unnecessary and not really worth the added cost. For a minimalist routine though, it might be an interesting option.

Clinique All About Eyes Eye Cream

Rating : 4/5 | May repurchase

I believe this was a sample as well. To be honest, I’m not big on eye creams but I generally find them redundant if you're already using a well-formulated moisturizer. That said, this one is very similar in texture to Moisture Surge: lightweight, hydrating, and non-irritating. If you’re into eye creams, this is a nice option, but not essential in my routine.

Next time I'd bring my experience of balms so stay tuned!
